Network Bottleneck Calculator: Discover your network’s bottlenecks with this interactive calculator tool
Network Bottleneck Calculator
Find the limiting link in a multi-segment path and the network’s practical throughput.

Network Characteristics
BDP (Bandwidth-Delay Product) = bandwidth × RTT — the amount
of data that must be “in flight” to keep the pipe full.
TCP throughput uses the Mathis equation
(MSS/RTT)·(C/√p) with MSS=1460 bytes,
C=1.22. Real performance also depends on window size, congestion control,
and application behavior.
How to use the Network Bottleneck Calculator
1- Enter the bandwidth (in Mbps) and latency (in ms) values in the respective input fields.
2- Click the “Calculate” button to see the result.
The formula used to calculate the throughput is:
text
throughput = 1000 / (1 + (bandwidth / 8 * latency / 1000))
This formula takes into account the bandwidth and latency to estimate the achievable throughput in Mbps.
